  1. What is Octopz?
    Octopz is advanced online collaboration technology designed to enable teams to:

    Octopz is the first online collaboration technology specifically designed to support the iterative work style of creative professionals.

    • Flexible. Invite anyone with an email address to participate instantly with a convenient Single Visit Invitation.
    • Advanced. The only online collaboration software that lets you synchronously markup digital media — video, audio, 3D, Flash animations, and panoramas — just as easily as you would a static document.
    • Secure. Integrated SSL encryption protects the confidentiality of online meetings and documents.
    • Effective. Secure online storage and access to all project related files supports version control and asynchronous workflow. Markup files and add personalized time-stamped comments for efficient project management.
    • Affordable. No special software or downloads required. Octopz is cross platform — Mac/PC/Linux — and requires nothing more than a Flash-enabled browser and an internet connection. VoIP capability saves telephone costs.

  3. What file types does Octopz support?
    It's easy to collaborate on both standard and advanced media formats including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images, video, audio, 3D, Flash animations, and panoramas.

  4. What is your pricing and licensing model?

    Octopz is offered on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), monthly subscription basis.

    Licensing is based on a concurrent room model in which:

    • Licensors can create an unlimited number of rooms (virtual meeting rooms with project specific documents)
    • Licensors can create an unlimited number of users - both internal (eg. employees) and external (eg. suppliers and customers)
    • The number of rooms that can be active (with one or more people logged in and actively working) at any given time is equal to the number of licenses held. Additional licenses can be purchased on a monthly basis.

    Pricing for Small Medium Business (SMB) is $99USD per month.

    Our new Daily Pass pricing option, coming at the end of May, is just $9.95 USD per day and will allow users and their guests unlimited access to a single Octopz Meeting Room for a period of 24 hours.

  5. Do I need to buy a license to use Octopz?
    Yes a license must be purchased, but there is nothing to download. However, invitees are not required to have a license.

  6. Do the people I want to collaborate with need a license?
    No. The only person who requires a license is the person who initiated the room, the other participants do not require anything other than a Flash-enabled web browser.

  7. Do I have to buy an annual subscription?
    No, there is no annual subscription fee, simply a monthly subscription fee or, starting in May 2008, a Daily Pass option.

  8. Do I have to pay extra to use VoIP? What about webcams?

    No, these are included in your monthly subscription fee. It includes the following maximums which are completely sufficient for typical users:

    • 1GB storage in total
    • 2GB of bandwidth per month
    Our Daily Pass option (available in May 2008) will feature full use of VoIP and webcams (for a 24 hour period) and includes a generous amount of storage (for up to a 30 day period).

  9. How quickly can I get started using Octopz?
    Immediately. Octopz is so easy and intuitive to use, most people can start using it right away — all you need is a Flash-enabled web browser. For more information, however, short instructional videos and online help are available at any time.
