  2. How many people can use Octopz at one time?
Octopz currently supports up to 5 people in a room — all of whom can be using VoIP and/or webcams. A future release will support a "Presentation" mode which will allow for up to 25 participants, but only one participant at a time will have VoIP and/or webcam capabilities.

  3. Where are the sessions stored?
Octopz is currently made available to clients on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis. This means the application, and any documents uploaded into a room, are stored and served from our Tier 1, secure server farm. We are exploring the development of a premise-based version of Octopz which will enable Enterprise clients to serve the application, and their documents, from behind their firewall.

  4. Are my documents secure?

Yes. Security within Octopz is based on the following four pillars:

    • Authentication. Verified with a user name and password.
    • Authorization. The user's rights within the application are restricted according to their role — guest, host or administrator.
    • Accounting. All actions of users within the application are tracked and logged.
    • Encryption. Integrated SSL encryption keeps online sessions and documents safe.

  5. Can I share my screen or applications?
No, Octopz does not currently allow you to do screen sharing or application sharing. This capability will be included in a subsequent version. However, the current version does support URL grabbing, which enables you to specify a URL and have the application automatically, and behind the scenes, go to that URL, capture a screen grab and load it into your current Octopz room.

  6. What if I am experiencing problems with performance?

Any performance issues you experience are most likely due to bandwidth constraints (i.e. your connection speed) and not from the operation of Octopz itself.  To test your bandwidth, we recommend the following sites:

    CNET Bandwidth Speed Test

    Speakeasy Speed Test
